24th - 28th June 2025 at Stoke Park

Robin Haase is the 2014 Champion of The Boodles tennis event at Stoke Park

In perfect sunshine, The Dutchman defeated Germany's Jan Lennard-Struff 6-3 6-7(1) 10-7 in the final and was then presented with The Boodles trophy, a piece specially designed by Boodles for the event, encrusted with 50 diamonds and valued at over £50,000.

"It is always nice to win a trophy and a tournament, so I feel good. I definitely had some fun here at The Boodles. I practiced a lot and the weather was great, which makes it better. I really enjoyed myself and now I am looking forward to Wimbledon," said Haase.

It was Struff's first visit to The Boodles event and the player who is now ranked at 65 in the world was delighted to receive an invitation to play.

"I really like it here at The Boodles, it is really nice. The courts are good and the surroundings are good. It feels very homely," said Struff.

Guillermo Garcia-Lopez returned to Stoke Park for the second time and promptly defeated Wimbledon's 20th seed Kevin Anderson 6-4 7-6 (3).

Garcia-Lopez believes The Boodles provides him with the perfect preparation for Wimbledon.

"It is an unbelievable atmosphere and it is a really good tournament to prepare for Wimbledon. It helps with getting to know the grass because sometimes you just practice and here you get to feel like it is a real tournament. I am playing good and I like the grass. I hope I will do great next week!".

The 13th Boodles tennis event concluded with a highly entertaining mens doubles match between the British brothers of Ken and Neal Skupski and Freddie Nielsen and Johan Brunstrom. Brunstrom/Nielsen winning 2-6 6-3 11-9.

Despite the defeat Ken Skupski relished the opportunity to play at Stoke Park.

"It was great, this was our first time and it was great to be invited to such a prestigious event and we played some great tennis today", Ken said.

"We like to put on a bit of a show but it is quite serious because of Wimbledon next week so it was great to play on the grass courts against two of the best doubles players in the world. Wimbledon offered us a wildcard before the entries closed fortunately enough our ranking was high enough to get in this year so I think its my 6th or 7th time, but it is Neal's first so its a big achievement for him." added Ken.

Freddie Nielsen lifted the Wimbledon doubles trophy in 2012 when he won the title with Great Britain's Jonathan Marray.

Nielsen says playing at The Boodles will rate as one of his career highlights.

"I think it was great, the most obvious thing is that it is an absolutely beautiful place and the tournament is really nice and the crowd is great. It is a very beautiful court and a really good place to play and it goes without saying we are not used to having the privilege of playing at events like this. I personally am going to cherish this for the rest of my career."

WIth the 2014 edition of The Boodles coming to a close under the evening sunshine we look forward to see everyone who attended again next year.
