World No.6 Andrey Rublev continued his good grass-court form ahead of Wimbledon with a second win at The Boodles. On a scorching day at Stoke Park Rublev got off to a flying start, racing to a 5-0 lead over Serbia’s Dusan Lajovic. The Serb avoided the dreaded bagel much to the crowd’s delight winning a game at 5-1 but could not withstand the onslaught of Rublev’s forehead, conceding the set 6-1. Despite a spirited challenge in the second set from Lajovic, Rublev remained focused on the win, closing out the match 61 64.

Felix Auger-Aliassime d. Diego Schwartzman 76(4) 62

The second match of day two at The Boodles featured Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime taking on Argentina’s Diego Schwartzman. The diminutive Argentine is on a farewell lap of the tennis tour, having announced he will retire at the end of the year, but put up a valiant fight against the 23 year-old Auger-Aliassime. Despite getting off to a slow start, going down 4-0 in the first set, Schwartzan managed to claw his way back to force a tie-break. In the end the Canadian proved too strong, taking the first set 76(4) and eventually the match 76(4) 62.

Borna Coric d. Diego Schwartzman 76(4) 62

In the late evening sunshine Borna Coric made short work of Diego Schwartzman, who was playing his second match of the day. Coric, a regular at The Boodles, raced to a 6-1 lead on Stoke Park’s grass court and finished off in style to win the match 61 62.
