Day Four of The Boodles 2017
Kyrgios, Kuznetsov, Bautista Agut and Shapovalov score wins on Day 4 at The Boodles
Aussie star Nick Kyrgios returned to The Boodles along with a host of international tennis talent to complete their final preparations ahead Wimbledon next week. On the day the Wimbledon draw was released all thoughts were turning to SW19.
The Boodles debutant Andrey Kuznetsov kicked off the action on a sun-soaked Friday at Stoke Park with a win over Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff:

Struff, who has played several matches this week at Stoke Park said:
“It was really nice. It’s good preparation for Wimbledon, in front of a nice crowd and good practice matches. Makes it more fun. The grass feels good, very good preparation.”
Nick Kyrgios (AUS) d. Viktor Troicki (SRB) 6-7(3) 6-2 10-8
Roberto Bautista Agut made short work of Frenchman Benoit Paire in an entertaining match before reigning Wimbledon Junior Champion, Denis Shapovalov, took to the court to give spectators a glimpse at the future of tennis.
Denis Shapovalov (CAN) d. Albert Ramos-Vinolas (ESP) 6-3 6-4
Following the match the 18 year old Canadian commented:
“It feels incredible. I played great tennis today and it’s just amazing to be here at The Boodles. The hospitality is great, the event is just unbelievable and I’m very happy to be here.”
On returning to Wimbledon he said:
“I think it’s gonna be very fun for me, first main draw of a major for me, so yeah. A little bit nervous, but you know, I’ve been there, I’ve lifted the trophy, so it’s going to be amazing to be back.”
“Being defending junior champion gives me confidence or comfort. Y’know, I’ve played on these courts before, I was very happy with them last year so I think it’ll help me this year playing against Jerzy [Janowicz.]”
Spanish opponent Albert Ramos-Vinolas may not have won a match at The Boodles but still enjoyed his first visit to the event:
“I think it’s a good way to prepare for Wimbledon here. I hope that it helps me in the next week but you never know, it’s difficult. Everything is very close so I don’t know. Let’s see how it goes next week.”
